Causes and Solution to Correct the Misalignment of the Ceramic Dome and Base

Introduction/Background

A Primo Ceramic Grill is subjected to repeated heating and cooling by the cooking process. While normal and expected, this causes the dome, base and metal hardware to go through numerous cycles of expansion and contraction. The frequency of the cycles and level of high heat varies greatly between users. As a result, one or more of the metal hardware components (bands, band nuts, hinge plate anchor nuts and hinge bolts) will loosen as compared to the factory settings. In some cases, the user may see the base band and/or hinge move when fully raising the dome.

Installation of the Hinge, Bands and Handle for Primo Oval Grill Models

Introduction/Background

Occasionally, a Primo user will need to install the metal hardware that connects the dome to the base. This can occur for two reasons: if the user receives replacement hardware or they receive a new base and dome and need to install their existing hardware. The metal hardware includes the spring-assisted hinge, two metal bands for the dome and base, handle and the required bolts and nuts to attach the individual parts. The installation is not difficult. The following page provides the recommended steps required to properly install the hardware.
